“When everything goes up to heaven, does a new cycle of Earth begin?”

Interesting that a six-year-old asks this question apparently out of the blue… especially when there are several cosmologies and ancient texts indicating that we may be nearing the end of this current cycle of existence. But little kids are -or can be- less influenced and manipulated by the trappings of physicality… they are closer to the Source and understand the connection of One that we adults have forgotten (even though we may seek the Path). For younger children, everything is possible. They are, in many ways, our spiritual texts come to life, for they know, intrinsically and completely that everything really is possible. It is through their continued interaction with adults that children lose their wonderment and belief and through which they become limited by our artificial and superficial understanding of physical reality. “There is no spoon” is natural to a child, but it can be a rather difficult concept for an adult to even consider.

The above quote, although phrased as a question, gives us a great, contemporary hint that perhaps those cosmologies and ancient texts are not as far-fetched as our manufactured illusions and egocentric desires for self-preservation may want them to be. This child was just looking for confirmation of a truth of which he was already aware… the truth that everything is cyclical… including our physicality.

Consider the persistent myths and stories of great, ancient civilizations torn asunder by quakes and volcanoes… stories encapsulated into the cultural heritage of a wide variety of civilizations… stories which suddenly appear in our consciousness (scattered about the globe) at about the same time-frame. Is this mere coincidence or is it further evidence of our cyclical nature and the same concept as quoted above? If our world myths on this theme are examined not as unrelated stories with coincidental commonalities but as parts of a related whole, they speak a truth mankind does not often want to hear for it threatens our scientific “reasonable” concepts of reality and life. Leave it up to a six-year-old to adequately summarize the concept of the cyclical nature of existence so well!

But where does this leave those of us who are currently manifest in this physicality? It leaves us exactly where we ought to be - which is exactly where we are. It leaves us with a reminder that we are One, truly interconnected and perpetuating beyond the confines of our science and reason. It leaves us with an opportunity to transcend ego, the opportunity to evolve as a species, and the opportunity to try it all over again…

6yr old: “Yeah, I know. During the next cycle of Earth.”
5yr old: “And some time, I will be back alive again!”
6yr old: “Yeah, me too!”

Metaphysics. It’s a mouthful of an often-misunderstood word, but it really just means “after physics”. The term can be difficult to define, encompassing many often-misunderstood practices, but it is the philosophical exploration of and personal experiences on the nature of reality. Metaphysics explores such questions and concepts such as “What is the nature of mind?”, “Does God exist? In what form?”, and “What is the sound of one hand clapping?”. It’s a branch of philosophy, related to natural sciences such as physics and psychology. In a more generalized definition of the term, Metaphysics may also encompass practices such as astrology, mediumship and channels, divination (tarot, I-Ching, etc.), holistic healers, meditation teachers and techniques, yogis and gurus, and more - as well as ponderings on the Ultimate Nature of Reality.

We are all on the Path towards spiritual transformation. Humans are facing the next stage of our evolution, towards a more gentle, enlightened, light- and love-oriented society. Instead of subscribing to the delusions of ego that we are separated from each other and separated from the larger Natural order of things, we are coming to recognize that humans, although gifted in many respects, are not superior to other species nor are we masters of our planet simply because we have opposable thumbs. We are beginning to realize that we are a piece of the whole planetary ecosystem, and instead of destroying it we can work in harmony with it. To realize our true potential will take diligence, faith, patience and compassion, but it can be done; it is being done. To choose to actively participate or not is, I believe, a matter of calling and perhaps of karma, but regardless of how aware of these evolutionary changes we may consciously be, they are happening around us and to us, affecting all of us in positive ways we -and our planet- haven’t seen in quite some time.

I find myself facing the next step in my personal evolution to Light, and as such, much of my day (& night) has been rather overwhelmed with revelations, insights and evolutionary changes, and the task of identifying the various puzzle pieces. This, combined with the necessity of living in this world with some modicum of success on a daily basis, has made it more challenging to sort through these insights and processes enough to be coherent in a blog entry. I had to have started six topics the last couple days, only to feel like I’m rambling like a lunatic upon re-reading the draft. I thought instead that I’d share some of the things being contemplated and ask whether any of you have insights or experiences or information concerning any of them; if you do, I’d be grateful if you’d share it here so that I and others may benefit. Each topic is one that some have spent quite some time evaluating in an attempt to discern their secrets. Spirit has a much faster track in mind for me, it seems…

Like a newly hatched bird looking over the nest’s edge, there comes a time to just take the leap and try the wings with which we are born. The time to do that is now. And by so doing, we show others how to take wing themselves…

The banner has been raised -here and elsewhere in the blog-o-sphere, as well as in Sanghas and Congregations the World over- to consciously and intentionally raise our level of awareness from something based in human ego and emotion to something else; and by so doing, to raise the vibrational level of the whole World. This is an important message, and I suspect it’s origins come more from the Metaphysical Realm, channeled through various individuals sensitive to such things, than it has to do with any human frustration with the current state of affairs or with any human ideal of how the world should work. And with American Independence Day looming in the near future, with war taking over various corners of the world, hatred and famine and jealousy and violence and ego and fanaticism of all sorts in our communities, there are many ways our individual “little efforts” can help raise the vibration of the world. It’s about time for a change, isn’t it?

So, for one reason or another, I’ve missed yoga for the last week, and now my body is screaming “Go to yoga! I feel all squished and crampy and … just not riiiight!”. So it’s back to yoga I go, hoping the remnants of a head cold don’t land me on my face in the middle of class during ‘tree’ pose or something. I’ve been getting used to Spirit yelling at me lately, and this new twist of having the body yell about missing a couple yoga classes is a bit of a shock. We get messages like this all the time, though -whether physical or metaphysical- and generally speaking, there’s some truth to what is being ’said’. (Hint: If it’s your body yelling for junk food or you’re getting angry and frustrated at something, it’s probably not what you need to be doing… *wink*).

Yesterday, I posted that it is time for humanity to take the next step towards our spiritual evolution. Welcome to part 2! *wink*

Metaphorically, flight has always intrigued mankind. For a long time, it was something for which to strive - it sparked our imaginations, our creativity, our bravery, inventiveness and ingenuity. And eventually, with the help of tools and machines, we gained the skies. Flight speaks of freedom, of ascent, of a breaking with the physical. It conjures images of angels and light, of strength and higher self. In many ways, it defies definition or description. But it exists nonetheless. And once more, it is time for humanity to reach for flight; this time however, the flight is of a not-so-physical sort.
